Danish authorities are investigating a surge in unidentified drone activity that has disrupted air traffic and heightened security concerns across the country.
Danish television reported an increase in drone sightings near Esbjerg and Sønderborg, close to the German border. The National Police confirmed that similar incidents have been recorded in multiple regions.
The situation escalated after a second consecutive night of drone activity led to the temporary shutdown of four airports. In response, the Royal Danish Air Force has deployed helicopters carrying specialized soldiers over North Jutland to monitor and, if necessary, neutralize drones flying over Aalborg Airport.

Authorities said there is currently no evidence indicating the drones are privately owned or commercial in nature.
Following the disruptions, Denmark announced it is considering invoking NATO’s Article 4, which allows member states to request consultations with allies when their territorial integrity or security is threatened.
