The European Commission has announced it will release 1 million euros on Wednesday to fight bird flu in Vietnam. European Commissioner for Health David Byrne announced this in the European Parliament. The bird flu is already raging through nine Asian countries, where a total of some 6.6 billion chickens live/lived.
The number of infections in wild birds has been increasing. This points to the presence of the disease in Belgium, which poses a high risk for outdoor poultry. https://t.co/73aueYECOx

In the European Parliament, Byrne gave an overview of the safety measures that are in force in the European Union. Experts from the EU Commission and from the international organisations for public health (WHO), for animal health (WOAH) and for food and agriculture (FAO) are assisting the affected countries in their fight against the epidemic.
Tomorrow, the Commission will for the first time allocate funds for protective materials and lab equipment. With one million euros, Europe is immediately the largest donor.
